Training officially recommenced on Wednesday 9th Feb, albeit lightly. This followed a visit to Mark my Chiropractor (at Body Consultancy) on Tuesday, who was happy with how the back and leg had responded to treatment. Woohoo!
A couple of light 25 minute runs on Wednesday and Thursday caused the groin to flare up a little after the sessions.
On Friday I visited Mark again. This time dry-needling was used in the lower back to free up the muscles as they were still in spasm, but much freer than before.
I was given the all clear to keep running and so on Sunday in the wind & rain on the muddy Castleman Trailway, I ran approximately 15.5 km (9.7 miles) in 91 minutes (about 10.2km/hour). I was relatively happy with the performance given I was still nursing back and groin pains and the weather was pretty awful. Still, there is plenty of work to do to hit my target of below 4 hours.
This week I’m on a mini-taper for the Brighton Half-Marathon on Sunday. So mid-week training will take the form on 2 x 45 minute sessions on a treadmill, subject to go-ahead from Mark tonight.
