£516 Raised So Far
Fundraising is coming along nicely, with another generous pledge of £50 from James Isherwood, a great friend from Uni who now lives in Auckland, New Zealand.
I also received my Outward Bound tops for the marathon this week, so I can get my name printed on it and give it a few trial runs.
Keys points from the week are as follows:
- Tuesday – Cricket Nets for 2 hours. CANCELLED due to a power failure at Hurn Bridge 🙁
- Wednesday – 50 minutes steady. COMPLETED 8.92 km @ 10.7km per hour. Average BPM 168.
- Thursday (morning) – 2 x 15 minutes hard. COMPLETED 1st 15 minutes @ 12.5km per hour, 178 BPM. 2nd @ 11km per hour, 176 BPM.
- Thursday (evening) – 45 minutes steady. (MISSED due to busy schedule)
- Friday – 25 minutes easy (+ visit to Chiropractor in evening). COMPLETED BUT MOVED to Saturday after needing to rest my back from treatment.
- Saturday – Cycle further along the route for Sunday, so I don’t get lost/stuck! (Ran Friday session instead)
- Sunday – 200 minutes easy pace. COMPLETED 17.89 miles (28.625 km) in 201 minutes @ 8.54 km per hour. Average BPM 161.
4 sessions completed. Not the 7 planned, but better than nothing.
This week from the training plan is supposed to be a mini-taper (reduced training), in preparation for a 10km run on Sunday.
However, (and despite turning 31 on Friday 18th March) I intend to make the most of the final 2 big weeks before beginning the race taper from 28th March.
So this Sunday and next I will be running 20 miles. The first will be at a slow pace to get used to the distance. The second at close to race pace. For both runs I will be wearing a Camelbak rucksack containing water, some Lucozade energy drinks & gels and most importanly, Vaseline!
Full schedule for this week is as follows:
- Tuesday – Cricket Nets for 2 hours.
- Wednesday – 45 minutes steady .
- Thursday – 50 minutes relaxed fartlek.
- Friday – 45 minutes steady
- Sunday – 200 minutes easy pace.
Have a great week.
Ben
