Half way through and a Half Marathon to boot

8 weeks of training have now been completed with 8 to go. The week ended with a half-marathon in Brighton after being given the go-ahead from my Chiropractor, Mark.

The two mid-week training runs were completed at approximately 10.5 km/hour in preparation for my first pre-marathon race. Despite my efforts to finish in a sub 2 hour time, the 2 weeks out with a back/groin injury took its toll and set my speed back about 3 to 4 weeks. I finished in 2 hours, 3 minutes and 7 seconds (10.22 km/hour). Reasonable, given the circumstances and my injury still working its way out of the system.

A massive thanks go out to my wife, mum & kids (Lily & Fern) for getting up a 6am and heading down to Brighton with me.

I’m now down to weekly visits to the Chiropractor, so this can only be a good sign and I’m hoping to put in 5 sessions this week as follows:

    • Tuesday – 45 minutes at easy pace

    • Wednesday – 4 x 8 – 10 minutes at hard pace, with a 2.5 minute rest inbetween each.

    • Thursday – 45 minutes at easy pace

    • Friday – 70 minutes steady pace or possibly off-road, fartlek.

    • Sunday – 180 minutes easy pace

Have a great week.

Ben
